Lasting Impressions Photography is the combined passion of a husband and wife team consisting of Jennifer and Eric Tompos.  Together, they work to enrich their clients' lives through the art of photography.  Jennifer and Eric have different perspectives on photography, which they utilize to the benefit of their clients.  They are also extremely competitive amongst themselves which continually elevates and evolves their work.

Jennifer is the inspired lead photographer providing the creative energy required to produce artist quality photography.  Originally from Ohio, Jennifer is a second-generation professional photographer.  Her interest came from her father who was a photographer.  Of course, she considered other professions prior to succumbing to her love for the camera.  Jennifer originally worked as a Physical Therapist's Assistant--an occupation well suited to her 'perky' demeanor and insatiable need to help others.

After two years in the medical profession, Jennifer returned to academia with aspirations of completing a bachelor's degree.  She chose to study political science at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  During her time at Purdue she enrolled in photography courses and began experimenting with the camera.  While at Purdue, Jennifer found herself working part-time for a local photography studio.  Coincidentally, Purdue's photography classes were held in small buildings adjacent to Purdue's structural engineering laboratory.  In time, she was befriended by a trio of graduate civil engineers who worked in the nearby lab.  Of course, these individuals became frequent subjects of her photography.  As graduation approached, Jennifer came to realize that she had a greater opportunity to change the world through photography than political science.  Jennifer graciously accepted her diploma and then fully committed her life to the art of photography and to an engineer from Purdue...

Eric Tompos is a native of Nappanee, Indiana and until meeting Jennifer, Eric had devoted his life to the study of engineering.  At the age of 14, he started work at his family's engineering firm, NTA, Inc.  Later he attended Purdue University where he earned Master and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Civil Engineering.  Somewhere in the middle of preparing his thesis, Eric stumbled upon Jennifer.  At the time she was looking for subjects to photograph; and of course, Eric volunteered.  Not much time passed before the two started dating.  A little more than a year later, and they were married (coincidentally, the wedding was scheduled around the photographer Jennifer had to have).  Once married, the two settled down in Nappanee, where they immediately opened Lasting Impressions Photography.

Travel is Expected

Available Internationally

While we are based in Nappanee, Indiana, we do much of our on-site photography in the surrounding towns and cities.  Our common travel destinations include northern and central Indiana, southern Michigan, central Ohio, and the City of Chicago, including its outlying suburbs.  Of course, we travel anywhere and are available for any domestic or international event.  Regardless of the location, print ordering is easy with our online web galleries.

As residents of Nappanee, frequent travel is a way of life and long road trips are commonplace.  Because we are accustomed to travel, we have very flexible travel policies for on-site event and portrait photography.  For locations with drive times of one hour or less, we will gladly travel for no additional cost.  Trips requiring greater travel time, or those requiring overnight accommodations will incur additional fees to offset travel expenses.  No matter where your event, don't hesitate to contact us for a consultation.

The Digital Advantage

Lasting Impressions uses only professional digital equipment--no film.  Digital photography provides incredible flexibility and freedom over traditional film based photography.  Some advantages include:

  • Unlimited exposures at no extra cost

  • Retouching of minor blemishes at no extra cost
  • Black & white and/or sepia prints at no extra cost
  • Unlimited storage life without image degradation

  • No "reprint fees"

  • Nearly instant access to "proofs"

  • Faster turn around on prints

  • Online gallery allows you to share your images with friends and family

Most importantly, we use only professional digital equipment and cutting edge digital techniques.    Using only digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras and an array of professional grade lenses, the resulting images are equal or superior to those produced using traditional film based techniques.  It is also important to note that your prints will not be dull, pixilated output from a bubble jet.  Instead, your images will be actual photographs, printed by a professional lab, on professional photo paper, with amazing color depth and crisp detail.  Best of all, you can order large prints, up to 40x50, without pixilation or loss of detail.

Negatives and Artistic Rights

At Lasting Impressions, we firmly believe that great photographs come from photographers who truly love what they do and respect the people they work with.  We view your photographs as works of art and believe they should be handled as such.  Accordingly, we thoroughly check the composition and color balance of each image prior to printing.  Once we are satisfied, we print our photos using the highest quality labs which use only professional grade photographic paper.  This close attention to detail ensures your satisfaction as you enjoy your images for years to come.  To maintain this level of quality, it is necessary that Lasting Impressions retain full control over all negatives.  Unlike photographers who 'sell negatives,' we care about our customers and the quality of our work.  Furthermore, we intend to provide the best service possible well after the moment is captured--not shoot-and-run.

At Lasting Impressions, negatives are retained indefinitely.  And because they are digital, they do not degrade over time.  We can provide any number of prints at any date after your special event or session and they will look just as they did the day the shutter was released.  To ensure the security of our digital 'negatives,' we utilize redundant storage and off-site backup methods; thereby mitigating loss due to mechanical failure or act of nature.
